CNBC launches text alert service

News broadcaster CNBC has launched an SMS alert service in the UK to provide European stock market updates and financial news summaries. The service allows subscribers to receive up to three text messages on their mobile devices each weekday. Each alert costs 25p.

Fire damages Stream cable

Comstar-owned Russian triple-play provider Stream TV has announced that a fire in the Solntsev and Novoperedelkino areas of Moscow has damaged its fibre-optic cabling. The company said tens of metres of cabling has been destroyed, leaving 80,000 customers without services. 

MGM signs Middle East deal
