Drive for success

The second Digital TV Europe/IPTV World Series/SCTE Golf Day took place on August 6. Barry Killengrey reports.

This year’s Digital TV Europe/IPTV World Series/SCTE Golf Day, which took place at Thame in Oxfordshire on August 6, saw 17 teams and 69 players compete for an impressive array of prizes.
The US PGA-standard 7,400-yard championship golf course presented a strong challenge for the players, but even mixed weather conditions, with sunshine succeeded by heavy showers, failed to deter the contestants.
Defending champions NDS once again triumphed in the team event with 105 points, followed by Whiteoaks Warriors with 103. Third place was secured by a combined team from Virgin Media, Videonet, and TW Electronics, and fourth place went to Flomatic. In the individual competition, Justin Lebbon of Videonet secured the trophy with 40 points. Darren Ballinger (Cable Guys) came second and Matt Harrison of Seachange finished third. The coveted Hacker prize went to Perry Mill (Technetix). Lee Barnet (Caspian Recruitment) won Longest Drive (260 yards), Steve Knott won the prize for tee shot closest to the pin. Andy Hopkins of TW Electronics won the most accurate drive from the tee on the 18th hole. Other prizes included the Final Five, won by Chris Buggie with 11 points. Event sponsors were Caspian Broadband, Flomatic, Impeq, Seachange and Thomson.
