DNA names marketing chief

Finnish telco and cable operator DNA has named Kati Riikonen as vice-president, marketing, consumer business, responsible for product marketing management, brand development and coordination. She previously worked as an entrepreneur and held positions at Motorola and Nokia. DNA has also named Paula Miettinen as vice-president, marketing, corporate business.

Private-equity investor Carlyle Group has completed the acquisition of French set-top provider Sagemcom from Gores Group. Carlyle Group has acquired 70% of the capital of Sagemcom for an undisclosed sum, with the remainder being held by the company’s existing management and employees. German cable operator Kabel BW ended June with 324,000 pay TV RGUs, an increase of 39% year-on-year. Lattelecom builds out fibre in Alūksnē

Latvian telco and IPTV provider Lattelecom has built out a fibre network in the town of Alūksnē in the north-eastern part of the country. The network currently connects 337 apartments in Alūksnē, but this number will grow to 1,623 apartments in 34 blocks in October, delivering speeds of up to 500Mbps to residents.
