Modern Times Group ups sales and revenues

Modern Times Group has reported an 8% increase in revenues of SEK9.8 billion (€1 billion) for the first nine months of the year. The broadcast group’s pre-tax profit for the period was SEK1.3 billion. For the three months to end-September, revenues were up 4%, taking the total to SEK3.1 billion.

Sky Sports News HD set for December launch

Sky Sports News HD will launch in Germany and Austria on December 1, pay TV operator Sky Deutschland has announced. The 24-hour sports news channel will be available on TV, iPad, iPhone, internet and Xbox 360. Sky has hired 200 employees to work on the channel, including 13 presenters.

Carlyle acquires Spain’s Telecable

Private equity firm The Carlyle Group has acquired an 85% stake in Spanish cable operator Telecable. Spain’s Liberbank will retain a minority stake in the regional cabler.
