OTE preps Hellas Sat sale

OTE will sell satellite operation Hellas Sat this year. The Greek telco said it will offload the satellite company within six months and that it might also dispose of other assets in order to pay down its debt load.

Cyfra Plus launches multiroom DVR

Poland’s Cyfra Plus has launched a new DVR for multiroom services. The decoder is available for PLN5 (€1.20) per month with no activation charges. It comes with a 250GB hard drive.

Liberty Global posts increased revenues and full-year loss

European cable giant Liberty Global increased revenues by US$1billion (€750 million) last year, posting a total of US$9.5 billion for the full year compared with US$8.4 for the previous year. Deutsche Telekom’s TV base up 34%

The number of customers taking Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain TV service, went up by 34% last year to to 1.6 million. Entertain Sat, the DTH platform that DT launched in September, accounted for 97,000 of the 177,000 new Entertain customers in the fourth quarter. TA nears 200,000 TV subs

Telekom Austria ended 2011 with 198,000 TV customers. The telco said the customer base of its A1TV service increased by 31.2% year-on-year. Fixed line service revenues declined by 3.6% to €226.8 million as a higher number of broadband and A1TV subscribers could only partly compensate for the loss of fixed voice minutes.

New football channel for NTV Plus

Russian DTH operator NTV Plus is launching a new high definition football channel. NTV Plus Football 2 HD will launch in the Supersport package tomorrow. It will air matches from the Champions League and Europa leagues.

OTE sees TV numbers rise in Greece and Romania

Greek telco OTE increased its TV subscriber base by 20% last year, ending December with a total of 59,944 IPTV and DTH customers. Magyar Telekom sees DTH and IPTV success

Hungarian telco Magyar Telekom ended 2011 with 797,390 TV subscribers, a 6.5% year-on-year increase.
