Swiss regulator says fibre plans could be anticompetitive

The Swiss competition regulator WEKO has found that joint projects by Swisscom and local public utility providers to build new fibre networks could pose a threat to competition in the market. Cable operator UPC Cablecom said that the finding confirmed its own view and demanded that the various parties involved addressed WEKO’s concerns.

UPC Slovakia passes 80,000 broadband subs

Cable operator UPC Slovakia now has 80,000 broadband internet subscribers, the company has revealed. The number represents a year-on-year increase of 13,000 subscribers. UPC Slovakia’s high-speed network in available to 414,000 homes in 22 towns and cities.
