Altice/SFR is planning to launch its i24 News channel in the US and has hired Claude Nahon, formerly president of Mood Media International, to head up the channel’s expansion overseas.

Nahon will take on the role of executive vice-president in charge of business development. In addition to the US launch, he will be responsible for growing the news channel’s revenues both in France and internationally. Nahon will work closely with SFR parent Altice’s advertising units.

In addition to marketing outfit Mood Media, Nahon has previously worked for companies including M6 and MTV Networks France.

“We are very happy to welcome Claude Nahon among us. His international experience in media will enable the group to secure the sustainable positioning of i24 News in our advertising markets globally. Our French, English and Arabic teams will further continue to be available 24/7 to enable i24 news to become the media of reference for international and Middle Eastern news,” said Fank Melloul, CEO of i24 News.

“I am delighted to join i24 News at a strategic moment in its development and before its launch in the US, offering its partners and advertisers unique, powerful and diversified marketing opportunities across Europe, the US and the Middle East. I join a channel in full expansion mode that is distinguished by the quality of its teams, its entrepreneurial sprit and the rigour of its treatment of news,” said Nahon.
