Former Intel TV and BBC digital chief Erik Huggers has joined music video content company Vevo as its president and CEO, according to reports.

Huggers has been out of the job since leaving US telco Verizon last year. Verizon had acquired Intel’s OnCue OTT service after Intel’s new management team decided against the idea.

Huggers will now oversee a company that has been moving heavily into original video distributed through music video sites and primarily YouTube.

Before his stint with Intel and Verizon, he had been the BBC’s director of future, media and technology, helping to grow the iPlayer during its early days.

Vevo has been without a CEO since founder Rio Caraeff left in November 2015 after six years in the post.
