Disney+ strikes new carriage deal with Vodafone Portugal

Streaming platform Disney+ has continued its global rollout by joining Vodafone Portugal’s latest set-top box, the VboxPro 4K.

Subscribers will have access to the full suite of Disney content across a range of devices including TV, computers and smartphones. Luís Fernambuco, general manager of The Walt Disney Company Portugal, said the deal “represents an important reinforcement of the partnership between the two companies, which includes the distribution of our linear channels.”

António Margato, director of consumer marketing at Vodafone Portugal, added: “The arrival of Disney+ on our television service enriches our customers’ experience. It offers thousands of films and series from the greatest storytellers and reaffirms Vodafone Portugal’s leadership positioning as ‘The Home of Series’.”

Margato said Vodafone Portugal is “the only operator that includes promotional offers of the main streaming services available in the national market in its television packages.” Currently new Vodafone customers are able to access a range of introductory offers around HBO Max, Amazon Prime and now Disney+.

Vodafone Portugal is in the midst of taking over smaller rival Nowo. The deal is subject to regulatory approval but Vodafone is hoping that will be granted soon.
