Sports streamer DAZN extends global basketball offering

Global sports streamer DAZN has secured a slew of European and Canadian rights to Australian basketball league, the National Basketball League (NBL). In addition to airing all live games, fans will “also be able to engage with more NBL content throughout DAZN’s rich multi-dimensional, multi-screen digital experience.”

‘‘We are incredibly excited to be entering this partnership with the NBL,” said Veronica Diquattro, CEO DAZN Global Markets. “We look forward to bringing subscribers in Europe top courtside action from one of the best basketball leagues in the world.”

NBL chief commercial officer Brad Joyner added: “The NBL is the second best league in the world and attracts players from across the globe. We have a strong European and Canadian following and this partnership will enhance our offering for that fanbase.”

While DAZN is probably best known for its football and fight sports acquisitions, it has been gradually building up its basketball portfolio. Last year it signed an expanded rights deal with the NBA in German-speaking territories and it recently signed a five-year global partnership with the BIG3 basketball franchise. Under the new deal, all matches from the elite Australasian league will air on the streaming platform.
