YFE results boosted by a touch of Genius

Munich-based kids and family studio Your Family Entertainment has reported double-digit growth in sales and strong earnings for the first half of 2022. Sales increased 70% to €2.5million while half-year profits hit a “best ever” €0.58m.

Explaining its rapid growth, YFE cited a strategic deal with Genius Brands International, signed in June 2022. It also said its programme licensing and broadcasting segments are both developing well. On the former, it clinched a deal with Austrian pubcaster ORF for series Superhero Kindergarten, while the latter saw YFE’s RiC TV channel secure a slot on Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta.tv platform.

YFE CEO Dr. Stefan Piëch said the kids sector is proving resilient: “The content market for children’s programmes remains competitive, but is overall crisis-resistant. Our recent performance confirms that we found the right partner in Genius Brands for our successful growth strategy. All of our business segments contributed to growth, that is the pay and free TV businesses as well as licensing and advertising sales.”

YFE claims to own and operate one of the largest independent libraries of quality content for families and children in Europe. Its channel business includes Fix&Foxi TV, distributed on more than 200 platforms in the German-speaking DACH region.
