Amino achieves RDK Video Accelerator set-top certification

Entertainment tech solutions provider Amino has completed the certification for its R180 set-top box.

The RDK Video Accelerator, carrier-grade set-top box allows the RDK community to quickly develop, test, and deliver innovative services. It simplifies consumer access to live, local, linear and OTT content and provides access to the Metrological App Store.

The R180 is powered by the next-generation Amlogic S905X4 SoC chip incorporating a high-end GPU to allow UI designers to create a user experience without performance concerns.

Donald McGarva, CEO, Aferian Group, parent company for Amino, said: “Our customers see the advantages of selecting Amino as the backbone of their hybrid Pay TV and OTT service offerings. We have integrated RDK with our hardware so that customers can, for the first time, benefit from an operator-ready RDK-V solution that requires minimal integration and has a short time to market.

“We intend all our future RDK devices to be Video Accelerator certified so that we deliver a set of standards and features that app developers can rely on. We are excited to leverage our RDK Preferred Plus membership to further RDK innovation through collaboration.”

Jason Briggs, president & GM of RDK, said: “Support from a market leader like Amino helps expand RDK deployment opportunities for a wide range of operators across the globe,” said “Amino’s new RDK Video Accelerator provides an innovative solution to help operators simplify service deployments and deliver compelling video experiences to their customers.”
