Firstlight Media rebrands as Quickplay

Canadian managed services provider Firstlight Media has announced a rebrand to Quickplay.

The rebrand sees the company return to its Quickplay Media origins while also leveraging its position as the industry’s first cloud-native and cloud-agnostic OTT platform.

Quickplay’s OTT platform is designed to build and run scalable applications in the cloud using cloud-native technologies, including containers, microservices, a service mesh, APIs, and immutable infrastructure. The company said that its OTT technology stack provides significantly better performance, a modular approach for feature expansion, continuous delivery for rapid iteration, and built-in scalability, observability and security.

Its solutions have been deployed by companies including Canada’s Sportsnet SN NOW, India’s aha 2.0, and PLDT’s Smart in the Philippines.

The company will debut its new look at IBC 2022, where it will preview tools such as personalised FAST channels running on Google Cloud and analytics dashboards.
