Record Tour de France engagement for Warner Bros. Discovery Sports

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (WBDS) has revealed record-breaking audience engagement across 50 markets in Europe for its coverage of the Tour de France.

The headline figure was triple-digit streaming growth on OTT platform discovery+. WBDS said that it grew its Tour de France streaming audience by five times compared to 2021, with streaming across all platforms including the Eurosport App increasing by 32% year-over-year. 

The media giant also praised the Tour’s linear performance, as the event scored the best overall pan-Europe Tour de France television performance for five years with record audience tune-in in key markets including France, Spain and Norway. Overall TV viewership across Europe on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 rose by 23% versus 2021.

Away from live coverage, video consumption was also up on Eurosport.com where media starts increased by 50% from 2021 while total video minutes watched were up 40% year-over-year.
