Sunrise UPC secures CHL through SRG sublicensing deal

Swiss service provider Sunrise UPC’s premium sports offering MySports is to broadcast all Champions Hockey League (CHL) games live this season.

The best ice hockey team in Europe is crowned every year as part of this international competition, which also features Swiss teams.

The Liberty Global-backed operator acquired the pay-TV rights to the CHL through a sublicence from Swiss public broadaster SRG.

Sunrise UPC’s MySports holds the rights to top-tier Swiss ice-hockey, the country’s most popular spectator sports. The operator also broadcasts matches from the top European leagues, such as the DEL or SHL.

The CHL season begins on September 1. MySports will show all games live and will focus on the five Swiss participants, HC Davos, Fribourg-Gottéron, EV Zug, Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and the ZSC Lions.

MySports will also broadcast interactive studio shows to accompany all games with Swiss teams, featuring context, analysis and commentary manner.
