Warner Bros. Discovery extends contracts of finance and strategy bosses

L-R: Gunnar Wiedenfels; Bruce Campbell

Following a period of restructuring that has seen layoffs and the halted roll-out of streamer HBO Max, Warner Bros. Discovery has extended the contracts of its chief finance and strategy bosses.

In a filing released on Thursday, the media giant has extended CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels’ contract to July 2026. Chief revenue and strategy officer Bruce Campbell meanwhile has seen his contract extended to July 2025.

The filing also showed that Campbell’s annual salary was increased from US$1.8 million to US$2.5 million per year, while Wiedenfels’ base salary was increased to US$2 million from US$1.7 million per year.

Campbell, who was one of the key figures in the launch of Hulu, is charged with leading WBD’s ad sales in the US and its global corporate development. Wiedenfels, as his title of CFO would suggest, is charged with the company’s finances. The exec has also been handed the additional responsibilities of overseeing its enterprise tech and broadcast operations, facilities, security and studio operations.
