Now TV picks Amino for H1 STB

Amino has been selected by Hong Kong Telecom-owned pay TV provider Now TV to integrate its IPTV service with streamers such as HBO GO and Netflix.

Now TV (not to be confused with the Sky-owned NOW) has turned to Amino’s SaaS service management solution Amino Engage. This solution promises to simplify device and app management, while providing insight into video consumption metrics for monetisation.

The device itself, the Now H1, will run on AminoOS which integrates OTT and IPTV to create a “modern viewing experience”.

Derek Choi, managing director, HKT Home, said: “We are thrilled to introduce Now H1 to families in Hong Kong. By converging the TV and OTT worlds, Amino has helped Now H1 redefine the viewing experience for Hong Kong consumers by providing a modern Android TV user experience that combines Now TV content with preloaded OTT services such as HBO GO, ViuTV, Viu, Netflix, Red Bull TV and Deutsche Welle.”

Donald McGarva, Aferian Group CEO, said: “As a long-standing Now TV technology partner, we spend a lot of time talking to them so that we know exactly where they want to be next week, next month and in one or more years’ time.

“We knew that Now TV needed a combination of the rock-solid user experience of Pay TV and the user-friendly and wide choice of OTT streaming, and that’s exactly what Amino software has delivered – an exciting ‘best of both world’s’ TV and video service.”
