FuboTV launches predictions game as precursor to in-app gambling

Sports-oriented US streaming service FuboTV this weekend introduced a new gaming feature which serves as a precursor to the full integration of gambling on the platform.

Prior to the start of select live sporting events each Sunday, users will be presented with a ‘pick’em’ (a game in which neither team is favoured with odds), featuring in-depth competitive aspects such as contests and leaderboards. This is a feature which spans across all FuboTV connected TV, smart TV, gaming consoles and mobile apps and website.

There’s no money involved at launch, but FuboTV said that it “will introduce prizing” at a later date.

More recent liberalisation of gambling laws across the US has opened up new opportunities for sports broadcasters and platforms in the gaming space, with DAZN recently launching a sports gambling brand.

Mike Berkley, chief product officer, FuboTV, said: “With this weekend’s launch, FuboTV will become the first live TV streaming platform to offer pick’em games integrated into the video experience with a direct gateway to an owned-and-operated sportsbook. We believe interactivity is a key product differentiator for Fubo and, with these immersive experiences built into our live streaming product, we can offer the most personalised – and customisable – sports and entertainment television experience.”
