Monaco GP breaks records for Sky

Sky Sports said that it saw a record audience for last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The sportscaster said that the race was the first European race to receive an audience larger than 2 million on Sky Sports F1 with average viewership of 2.01 million. The audience peaked at 2.25 million.

In addition, the qualifying session averaged 1.03 million viewers with a peak of 1.17 million. This made it the most-watched Monaco qualification on record for Sky Sports since the broadcaster first showed the sport in 2012.

The first weekend of May proved to be a bumper few days of sport for Sky.

Nottingham Forest’s Championship Play-Off victory over Huddersfield was the most-watched EFL game on record for Sky Sports, with an average in-home audience of 1.75 million viewers, peaking at 2.24 million.

US racing’s showpiece event, the Indy 500, also was a record-breaker for Sky Sports with its average of 231,000 viewers (and a peak of 372,000) becoming its most-watched iteration of the event.
