Premier Sports picks up home nations football in two year UEFA deal

Premier Sports has announced a deal to broadcast UEFA National Team football in the UK from 2022-24.

The deal includes the UEFA Nations League and European Qualifiers to UEFA Euro 2024, along with all of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland matches.

The first match of this deal will see Copa America holders Argentina take on UEFA Euro 2020 winners Italy from Wembley Stadium on June 1.

In total, Premier Sports will broadcast over 400 games of UEFA National team Football including all other matches involving non-UK teams included in UEFA’s 2022-24 national team football portfolio.

The one exception to this deal is England, with its UEFA-related matches to be broadcast free-to-air in the UK on Channel 4.

Richard Sweeney, CEO, Premier Sports commented “We are thrilled to be awarded this fantastic package of UEFA National Team matches. This summer when the domestic seasons ends, our subscribers will enjoy a feast of international football with live coverage of the UEFA Nations League where every game matters as it provides a potential route to qualification for UEFA Euro 2024. From 2023 we will bring fans every game of their team’s vital qualification process towards UEFA Euro 2024.”

The two year deal with Premier Sports will serve to bridge the gap between the end of Sky Sports’ current deal with UEFA and the start of Viaplay’s major four-year rights deal which will start in 2026.
