Hispasat targets OTT market with new wholesale services

Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has launched a new set of managed wholesale services for service providers, telecommunications operators, governments and audiovisual companies

The Red Eléctrica Group-owned operator launched Hispasat Wave at the 2022 Washington Satellite Show, the main trade fair in the satellite sector worldwide.

Hispasat Wave combines the outfit’s satellite fleet with ground infrastructure and value-added service solutions in two key pillars: Networks and Video.

Hispasat Wave Video offers what Hispasat describes as scalable end-to-end solutions for the delivery and distribution of TV and content across satellite and OTT.

Hispasat Wave Video solutions are enhanced by the 2021 acquisition of the assets and signal transmission operations of Media Networks Latin America, previously owned by the Telefónica group in Peru. A new generation OTT video distribution solution developed in partnership with Nagra, which has been recently announced by the company, will soon be added to this portfolio.

The joint solution with Nagra, aimed at the Latin American market, is designed to enable pay TV operators, Internet service providers (ISPs) and regional content companies to offer their clients a multiscreen entertainment service that is distributed through the Internet without having to roll out their own infrastructure.

Hispasat Wave Networks meanwhile focuses on connectivity services for extending cellular networks, deploying residential and corporate Internet access, and providing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and satellite Wi-Fi hotspots for air, maritime and ground mobility environments the offering also includes managed services for government programs, such as remote learning and telemedicine.
