Tele2 to offer Viaplay direct through Tele2 Play

Sweden’s Tele2 has forged a streaming partnership with Nordic Entertainment/NENT Group that will ultimately see NENT’s Viaplay streaming service be offered direct through Tele2 Play.

Initially Tele2’s pay TV customers will have access to a selection of Viaplay channels and streaming services as part of their pay TV subscription.

Later this year, the partnership will be expanded and Viaplay will be directly available through Tele2 Play, which gives Tele2’s customers access to Viaplay’s range of movies and series, including over 150 exclusive Viaplay Originals.

Tele2’s Premium customers will also get access to Viaplay Total, which includes Premier League, NHL hockey and Formula 1 racing.

The partnership follows close on the launch of Tele2 Play+, Tele2’s combined on-demand and linear streaming offering. The enhanced streaming service will now be included as part of all TV packages from the provider.

Customers with a standard TV pack will gain access to Viaplay movies and series, while flexible TV will have access to live sports such as FIS skiing. Premium customers will have access to Viaplay Total, including Premier League football, NHL hockey and Formula 1. This will initially be available via the Viaplay app, but will ultimately be integrated into the Ultimate TV app.

“We are delighted to joint forces with one of the strongest content providers in the Swedish market. This partnership benefits both parties and we can offer our customers even more premium content in one place without them having to take more services or subscriptions. Our new entertainment offering is based on our customer’s demand for simplicity and mobility and I am confident that they will enjoy the ability to access both linear and on-demand content from Viaplay in a more simple and accessible way,” said Kjell Johnsen, President and CEO of Tele2.
