Movistar Plus+ adds Twitter to Living Apps collection

Spanish telco Telefónica’s pay TV service Movistar Plus+ has added Twitter to its Living Apps offering, bringing a variety of music, sports, travel, technology, culture, comedy and movies and series content to TV screens.

The move means that over 1.5 million Movistar Plus+ subscribers will be able to view Twitter’s Living App content on their TV screens.

The pay TV service’s Living Apps are exclusive streaming services brought to subscribers by Desco UHD, which include Fortnite, TikTok, Rakuten, Atlético de Madrid, the British Council and others.

Movistar Plus+ said that the agreement with Twitter marked a new stage in collaboration between the pair, following the incorporation of Twitter conversation and interactin with Movistar Home in 2018 and the integration of Twitter Moments as part of the Movistar Home experience the following year.

“With the incorporation of Twitter in the Movistar Plus+ catalogue of Living Apps, Telefónica is reiterating its commitment to offer a differentiated, attractive and exclusive entertainment offering to Movistar Fusión customers. We are once again maintaining our innovation and the addition of new formats to continue being technology leaders in the home,” said Chema Alonso, chief data officer at Telefónica.

“At Twitter we are committed to finding different and innovative ways to disseminate the platform’s content and to bring to Movistar Plus+ users the best experience of Twitter on television. This new phase in our collaboration allows us to continue being an innovative partner that offers a new channel to content creators through which they can reach a new public and can offer a premium experience,” said Javier Pagán, country manager, Spain at Twitter.
