SES veteran John-Paul Hemingway appointed chief strategy and product officer

Satellite operator SES has announced the appointment of John-Paul Hemingway as its new chief strategy and product officer.

The CSPO will be charged with delivering on SES’s corporate vision, including its target applications, strategic partnerships, portfolio of solutions, and the space and network assets required to deliver them.

Hemingway has served at SES since 2016, initially joining as chief marketing officer before being made EVP of product, marketing and strategy in 2017. Prior to SES, Hemingway spent just shy of 15 years at telecommunications equipment company Ciena.

The role of CSPO is newly created for the exec, and replaces the role of SES Networks CEO which has now been eliminated. The company said that it is retaining “the strong focus on its video and networks businesses and leveraging its innovative products and solutions” while creating a restructured organisation that is “flatter, leaner and more customer oriented.”

The company added that the role “brings together the Corporate Strategy, Product, Commercial Operations, Fleet Development, Innovation and Marketing & Communications teams.”
