Starz promotes streaming boss Kalle to president of international networks

US-based Starz has upped streaming chief Superna Kalle to become president of international networks.

Kalle, who was previously EVP of international digital networks at the Lionsgate-owned company, has led the global expansion of streamer Starzplay, which is now in 58 countries.

She continues to report into Starz president & CEO Jeffrey Hirsch and oversees all aspects of programming and production for Starzplay’s international original series, distribution, marketing and publicity. Her remit also covers Lionsgate Play, the company’s Asia-focused streamer that recently expanded into Indonesia.

Hirsch said: “Superna has done a superb job of building a successful international division from the ground up that has formed strategic distribution partnerships and international original productions that contribute to our company’s innovation and distinction. I look forward to even greater global growth under her continued leadership.”

Prior to joining Starz, Kalle was an advisor to media companies including CBS/Showtime. She had previously spent 16 years at Sony Pictures Television (SPT) as SVP & GM, launching numerous networks including Sony Movie Channel and Cine Sony Television, its Spanish-language movie network.
