OTT tech specialist Atende Software becomes Redge Technologies

Polish OTT technology specialist Atende Software is changing its name to Redge Technologies and has unveiled plans to expand into new international markets.

The company committed to rebranding as part of an ownership change at the end of 2020, when a management buyout was supported by Custodia Capital, an investment company supporting small and medium-sized entities in central and eastern Europe.

The company provides technology to TVN Discovery Polska and Play Mobile/Iliad Group among others in its home market, and international clients such as the Baltic TV3 Group.

This spring, TV3 launched its OTT platform offering AVOD content, based on technology provided by Redge Technologies. Viewers of the new version of the TV3 Play website in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia receive free access to over 190,000 videos with a total library of over 40,000 hours.

Redge Technologies says it will base its growth strategy on three pillars: first, focusing on API-based cloud services; second, creating a scalable OTT product for local and regional owners of unique content; and third, implementation of projects for broadcasters, pay TV operators and telecoms in the international market.

Redge said it is also considering capital investments in companies developing technologies complementary to its existing solutions.

The name Redge Technologies refers to the edge computing-centric nature of the company’s portfolio.

The company has focused its efforts on the development and commercialization of its proprietary technology platform Redge Media, formerly redGalaxy, which is used to build internet TV services. Redge Technologies is also the operator of one of the largest distributed CDNs in the CEE region.

Starting from 2015, the company has also developed the Redge Guardian platform, formerly redGuardian, described as a national carrier-class system to protect against DDoS attacks.

“Our development will be favored by the growing internet TV market, in which owners of unique, often local content are gaining more and more share,” said Przemysław Frasunek, board member of Redge Technologies.

“In the area of high scalability and cybersecurity, our greatest challenge will be to focus on the development of products and services for the 5G network. We also believe that cyber sovereignty should not be an empty slogan. The only way to implement this concept is the development of native technologies.”
