24i hires former Virgin Media director of operations Debbie Phillips

End-to-end video streaming tech provider 24i has announced the hire of Debbie Phillips as its chief operating officer.

The appointment comes less than a month after the Aferian (formerly Amino Technologies) subsidiary announced the acquisition of Danish pay TV platform Nordija.

Based in the UK, Phillips joins with over a decade of experience in the streaming media industry. She previously headed up global operations for Ericsson/Red Bee Media Services, and also served as director of operations for Virgin Media.

24i CEO Joachim Bergman said: “In the past few years, 24i has evolved from a creator of front-end apps to a company that delivers end-to-end streaming services for both Pay TV and OTT companies. As we transition to a greater focus on fully operated streaming services, including our TV as a Service offering, it’s essential we keep the needs of our customers at the heart of our transformation. Debbie’s experience makes her the perfect person to drive this effort. I know she’ll help us get the very best out of our brilliant engineering teams who collectively design, develop, quality assure and support our end-to-end offering so we can continue to super-serve our customers and their end-users.”

Phillips said: “I began my career working for a broadband service provider where I had customer service excellence more or less written into my DNA. Every role I’ve been in since has involved the delivery of high volume, high availability services at scale, to global customers and audiences. I’m looking forward to bringing the benefit of those experiences to the 24i team who already have a fantastic reputation for user experience excellence.”
