Film1 Action launches on Amazon Prime channels

SPI International/FilmBox-owned Dutch movie service Film1 has launched its Film1 Action linear channel on Amazon Prime Video Channels in the Netherlands.

Film1 Action will be included in the Film1 add-on package where it will complete a lineup of Film1’s four linear channels and on-demand selection.

Film1 launched its three other linear channels – Film1 Premiere, Film1 Drama and Film1 Family – and a curated selection of on-demand content with Prime Video Channels in the Netherlands late last year.

The Film1 package allows Prime members to view titles including The Gentlemen, Midway and Midsommar, among others.

Film1 is available for Prime members in the Netherlands via the existing Prime Video app to watch on smart TVs, mobile, Amazon Fire TV Stick, game consoles and through the web. Prime members will be able access the content with a single account, login and user experience through Prime Video.

“The action genre is the most popular genre on Film1, which makes the inclusion of Film1 Action on Amazon Prime Video Channels in the Netherlands particularly relevant for Dutch viewers. At Film1, we are always committed to bringing the best and the most appealing content acquired from top distributors to our viewers,” said Jeroen Bergman, managing director at Film1.

Separately, SPI/FilmBox and Canal+ Group have launched SPI’s combat sports entertainment destination FightBox on the Canal+ platform in Ethiopia. FightBox will be offered in the English language and will be available to subscribers in the basic DESTA package.
FightBox is also available to Canal+ subscribers in Myanmar.

“I am very happy to be supporting Canal+ Group in this new adventure. We have a strong partnership together across many territories and it’s always great to be there at the start of a new platform launch. MMA enthusiasts in Ethiopia can now tune in to some of the most exciting combat sports live events on FightBox with Canal+ and feel the rush of the ring from the comfort of their own homes,” said Georgina Twiss, MD Western Europe & Africa at SPI International.

“Our new Canal+ Ethiopia offer combines quality and diversity through popular thematic channels and varied contents. In this context, we are very pleased to bring to the new Ethiopian subscribers FightBox, which perfectly meets their expectations. This unique fight combat sports channel will offer them great moments,” said Alexandre Gruner, SVP channels acquisitions and partnerships for Canal+ International.
