Netflix’s latest big-budget original movie Enola Homes is already proving a hit with audiences.
The family-friendly mystery caper starring Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame as the younger sister of Henry Cavill portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, became the most-viewed movie on Netflix less than a day after its release.
Overall, the film was the second most-watched title on the platform, behind Ratched – the latest Netflix project from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy about the iconic One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest villain.
Enola Holmes, produced by Legendary, was initially slated for a theatrical release and distribution from Warner Bros., but the title was scrapped from cinemas amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, this initial success should prove to vindicate the decision to put the film on Netflix, with a sequel already looking likely. The film, based on the Nancy Springer YA novel series, has enough source material to see multiple sequels with Brown as its lead – potentially Netflix’s first Harry Potter-styled movie franchise.
