SuperSport taps Insight TV to fill coronavirus gap

UHD channel provider and action sports and lifestyle producer Insight TV has struck a programming partnership with MultiChoice-owned pay-African sports channel bouquet SuperSport to provide content to fill the gap left by the coronavirus shut-down of live sports..

Insight TV is providing SuperSport with sports-themed programming to help keep SuperSport viewers engaged, including freestyle football, cricket and endurance sports.

Insight TV has supplied SuperSport with three original series, all of which were filmed in native 4K UHD HDR: F2: Tackling Europe featuring two football freestylers; .Beyond the Boundary, a documentary featuring cricketeer Pete Trego travelling around the world to meet players and fans of the game; and Photonis Ultimate Forces Challenge focusing on The Photonis Ultimate Forces Challenge, a physical and mental endurance competition.

SuperSport is carried on the DStv satellite and digital platform across Sub-Saharan African, broadcasting of local and international sporting events and leagues, including association football, rugby, cricket, tennis, golf, motorsport, cycling, boxing, wrestling, hockey, and MMA

“The global pandemic left many live sports channels adrift and scrambling for ways to fill the void. We were delighted to be able to work with SuperSport to provide some of Insight TV’s sports-focused originals to bridge the live content gap, as well as introduce pan-African viewers to our brand,” said Rian Bester, CEO, Insight TV.
