Netflix has announced a price increase for Belgium.
According to Le Soir, the ubiquitous streamer will raise the price of its standard and premium subscriptions by €1 and €2 to €11.99 and €15.99 per month respectively.
The company will keep the basic subscription at €7.99 per month, a price which has not been raised since Netflix entered the Belgian market in 2014.
The paper adds that customers will be informed by email over the next two weeks, with the adjusted pricing being reflected in their next bill.
In a statement made to the paper, a spokesperson for Netflix justified the cost by saying that it is ramping up production in the country. Into The Night, Netflix’s first Belgian original series, is in production for a 2020 release as is the second season of Belgo-Dutch series Undercover.
Netflix has raised prices multiple times in recent times in a variety of markets as it focuses more on high-budget original productions.
