US operators RCN, Grande and Wave, have added the Amazon Prime Video app to their TiVo set-top boxes.
Users with an Amazon Prime membership can add the Prime Video app to their TiVo devices at no extra cost. The app joins an expanding roster of VOD services such as Netflix, HBO GO and Hulu.
Chris Fenger, COO of RCN, Grande and Wave said: “RCN, Grande and Wave continue to integrate innovative and convenient options for our customers, and this Amazon collaboration exemplifies our commitment to providing the latest and greatest for our customers.
“With the power of the Prime Video app now at our customers’ fingertips, customers with a Prime membership will be able to watch critically acclaimed Prime Video originals such as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, all without the need for additional equipment.”
Elsewhere, TiVo has announced a merger with tech company Xperi to create a new US$3 billion business.
The company will adopt the Xperi name, but continue to sell products under the TiVo branding while Xperi’s DTS, HD Radio and IMAX Enhanced brands will also remain intact.
