Local Italian media outlets are reporting that leading broadcasting group Mediaset is planning to launch a new free-to-air TV channel dedicated to home-grown Italian cinema. Called Cine 34, the new channel will be launched on January 20, 2020.
According to information provided by Mediaset to advertising clients, every day of the week will dedicated to a different film genre or strand. Monday will focus on the “masters of cinema” while Tuesday will be Bellissime (sexy comedies). Other days will feature detective films, comedies, thrillers, Westerns, cult movies etc.
The date has been selected because it coincides with the centenary of Federico Fellini’s birth. Appropriately, the first day will be entirely dedicated to Fellini’s films – including the iconic La Dolce Vita.
