Telecom Italia names new head of TIMVision

Telecom Italia (TIM) has named Rai executive Andrea Fabiano as the new CEO of it audiovisual unit TIMVision and head of multimedia.

Fabiano will take up his new post with the company on September 16.

TIM said that the appointment of Fabiano, an experienced manager in the television business, would give further impetus to TIMVision’s strategy. The company said it aimed to become the leading aggregator of high-quality digital content in Italy, with its service delivered through partner agreements that enable it to offer products spanning series, films, news and leading Italian and international sporting events.

Fabiano joined Rai’s marketing department in 1999 and became its deputy director in January 2013. In February 2015 he was appointed deputy director of programming and marketing for Rai 1.

He became director of Rai 1 in February 2016 and then director of Rai 2 in October 2017. In May this year, he was handed editorial responsibility for Viva Rai Play!,the first major original production for Rai’s digital offering, overseeing its planning and start-up phases.
