Cyfrowy Polsat launching catch-up TV, time-shifting and restart on Evobox HD

Polish pay TV provider Cyfrowy Polsat has added catch-up, time-shifted TV and restart TV functionality to its Evobox HD set-top boxes.

The pay TV provider is launching seven day catch-up TV for selected programmes, free of charge to subscribers, along with time-shifting , giving subscribers the ability to pause and rewind selected programmes for up to three hours. Cyfrowy Polsat has also added restart TV functionality, allowing viewers to watch selected programmes from the beginning if they miss the start.

Cyfrowy Polsat will test the new functionality for the next two months before rolling it out to subscribers.

The pay TV operator launched the Evobox HD a year ago alongside a lower-cost variant, the Evobox Lite. Both devices provide access to linear channels and on-demand multiscreen services Cyfrowy Polsat Go and HBO Go.

The two models of box are, like their predecessors, produced in-house by Cyfrowy Polsat at its InterPhone Service factory in Mielec.

The Evobox HD include build-in WiFi modules, a programme guide that allows users to filter programme positions, advanced search and the ability to set reminders, advanced metadata programme descriptions, the ability to create lists of favourite channels and the ability to navigate between them using the blue button on the remote control. Unicable technology allows users to simultaneously operate multiple tuners, switching channels quickly, and the automatic functioning of the Multiroom HD service authorisation.
