Mediacorp announces content sourcing innovations with VICE and Wattpad

10 questions you always wanted to ask

Singapore’s Mediacorp has used the APOS event in Bali, Indonesia to unveil three new partnership announcements, including a high-profile content supply arrangement that will bring it a raft of digital and TV content from youth media brand VICE.

Mediacorp said it will bring VICE content into its growing portfolio of digital assets, and carry curated video series on its digital entertainment destination, Toggle. Shows included in the agreement include VICE Reports, The Cute Show and 10 Questions You Always Wanted To Ask, alongside fashion title i-D and food channel Munchies.

Mediacorp also announced a development-based partnership with Wattpad to bring Singapore stories to national screens. Together, Wattpad and Mediacorp will identify Singaporean writers and stories that resonate with local and international audiences.

Projects will be sourced from Wattpad using the company’s Story DNA Machine Learning technology, which allows Wattpad to identify exceptional stories from the 565 million uploads that have been shared on the platform. Tham Loke Kheng, CEO, Mediacorp said the partnership “demonstrates Mediacorp’s commitment to reinvigorating our content and formats and innovating the way we source stories.”

Finally, Mediacorp is linking up with Korea’s Spackman Entertainment Group to co-produce a romantic drama bringing together talent from Korea and Singapore. The 20-episode drama co-production carries the working title Equity of Love and is set against the luxury hospitality and fast-paced financial landscapes of Singapore.
