T-Mobile launching TVision pay TV service, adds Amazon Prime to line-up

US mobile telco T-Mobile has rebranded its Layer 3 TV offering as TVision Home an OTT-delivered pay TV service and is to add Amazon Prime Video to its offering.

The TVision offering that will be launched on Sunday will include over 275 channels, a personalised home screen and DVR, voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, access to Nest security cameras and on-screen social content.

TVision will be available in Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington D.C. metro areas, as well as Longmont, CO, with more cities coming soon, the company said.

The service includes 4K UHD services and over 35,000 on-demand movies and shows, according to T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is offering the service as a direct competitor to cable, with a broadband-connected set-top box. The basic TV package will include 150 channels US$100 a month.

Under the deal with Amazon, TVision customers with a Prime membership will be able to watch all Prime content, including Amazon Originals, premium shows and movies and live events through the Prime Video app on TVision from later this year.
