Deutsche Telekom saw solid growth in its TV base in Germany in the year to December, but a mixed performance in its central and eastern European markets.
Deutsche Telekom had 3.353 million TV customers in Germany at the end of the year, up 6.8% year-on-year. TV revenues in Germany amounted to €1.483 billion, up 5.9%.
Outside Germany, in the rest of Europe Telekom had 4.835 million TV customers at the end of the year, up 1.1%, with growth in some markets being offset by a flat performance in Croatia and a dip in numbers in Romania.
In Greece, OTE had 540,000 TV customers, up 3.3%, while OTE-owned Telekom Romania had 1.443 million TV customers, down 1.8%.
In Hungary, Magyar Telekom’s TV base numbered 1.087 million, up 5.9%.
In the Czech Republic, Telekom’s local operation had 86,000 TV customers, up from 37,000 a year earlier, while in neighbouring Slovakia, the TV base was 617,000, up 4.2%.
In Croatia, T-Hrvatski Telekom had 418,000 TV customers, up 0.2%.
In Austria, the acquisition of Liberty Global’s local cable unit gave T-Online 451,000 TV customers at the end of the year.
