Loop Media launches with senior team from Disney, Vevo and EA

Loop Media, a new premium short-form streaming service co-founded by former Disney, Vevo and Electronic Arts executives, has gone live after years as a stealth startup.

Loop said it aims to improve the viewing experience of content like music videos, film trailers, game trailers and TV clips by enabling real-time interactions between venues, artists and fans.

The LA-based company has raised nearly US$10 million in seed funding and has developed a Loop Mobile app, currently in beta, which offers hundreds of curated muisc playlists by mood, genre, and era. It also has a Loop TV app for Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV and smart TVs.

In addition, its business-focused Loop Screencast product offers curated playlists, digital signage, and a video experience designed to customers engaged and is available for a monthly subscription fee.

Loop is led by CEO Jon Niermann, the former president of Electronic Arts Asia and managing director of Walt Disney International Asia. The senior team also includes: COO Aaron Burcell, who was formerly VP of growth and product marketing at Vevo; CPO Liam McCallum, who was previously head of digital at EA Asia; and CCO Justis Kao, the former creative director at Farwest Entertainment.

“Loop plans to link in-home and out-of-home by entertaining consumers watching at home, on-the-go or in public venues with others. We’ll work with bars, restaurants, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, stadiums and universities to make sure your Loop experience is available wherever possible,” said Niermann.

“After years in stealth, we’re proud to finally launch what we believe is a game-changing proposition, made possible by a small but incredibly talented team of entertainment, media and tech leaders, artists and producers, with a vision for enjoying and sharing great short-form content.”
