Movistar+ adds women’s football to #Vamos line-up

Telefónica’s pay TV platform Movistar+ has secured the rights to top tier Spanish women’s football in the form of La Liga Iberdrola and the Copa de la Reina.

From tomorrow, Movistar+ will air gams from La Liga Iberdrola and the Copa de la Reina live on its #Vamos channel, kicking off with a match between Madrid and Seville. The channel will be the exclusive home to Movistar+’s women’s football coverage of the Liga Iberdrola.

Telefónica said that Movistar+ was increasing its coverage of women’s football at a time when the sport was growing in popularity, driven by the success of players including Amanda Sampedro, Lieke Martens, Alexia Putellas, Olga García, Nekane Díez, Sonia Bermúdez and Charlyn Corral.
