Liberty Global joins the HomeGrid Forum

TV and broadband provider Liberty Global has joined the HomeGrid Forum, an alliance of firms looking to promote home networking technology G.hn.

In doing so, it links up with other service providers including AT&T, BT, CenturyLink, China Telecom and Verizon.

“Industry collaboration is an important component within the Alliance and Liberty Global are true innovators in investing in and enabling seamless home-networking technology,” said Len Dauphinee, HomeGrid Forum president.

“Liberty Global is a major provider of home networking and we are delighted to welcome them to the Forum as we continue to move towards a smart connectivity future.”

Liberty Global, which has 22 million customers across 11 countries, has previously partnered with HomeGrid Forum Member Comtrend and Board Member MaxLinear to deploy a Wi-Fi extender solution that leverages G.hn technology.

At the company’s recent Annual Tech Summit in Amsterdam, it also displayed its ‘Connect’ Ecosystem, which includes G.hn powered Connect Wi-Fi Boosters.

“We are delighted to support the progress of G.hn technology,” said Peter Joyce, director of connectivity CPE Architecture at Liberty Global. “We look forward to working closely with HomeGrid Forum and improving the future of home networking for our customers.”
