Eleven Sports has extended its Bundesliga rights deal in Portugal and will now broadcast live top-flight German football for three years from the 2018/19 season.
The broadcaster previously announced a two-year Portuguese agreement with Bundesliga in June, which was due to start from the 2019/20 season.
The new deal brings this start-date forward and adds an extra year to the agreement. Fans will also be able to watch selected coverage from the second division of professional football in Germany, Bundesliga 2
“Eleven’s global relationship with Bundesliga will enable fans in Portugal to enjoy one of the best European football leagues from the start of this season”, said Pedro Mendonça Pinto, Eleven Sports Portugal non-executive director.
“Eleven has quickly become the go-to place for live football in Portugal with Bundesliga joining live coverage from UEFA Champions League, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and much more.”
Eleven has now secured Bundesliga rights in four markets – Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland.
Eleven Sports Portugal launched last week with live coverage of the UEFA Super Cup between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid. Eleven has a deal with operator NOWO in Portugal and has also launched an over-the-top service in the market.
