Telekom Austria-owned Croatian multi-play service provider Vipnet has tapped Spanish broadcaster and production outfit Mediapro’s recently acquired Slovenian production subsidiary VPK Pro to develop and operate five new sports channels for its pay TV service.
VPK Pro has developed a bouquet of five channels for Vipnet under the PlanetSport brand. The Slovenian company is providing playout for the operator. The programming line-up includes local rights to the UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons.
VPK Pro is providing studio facilities for flagship channel PlanetSport 1 and is responsible for the studio production and live production of some of the content on the channel. The Slovenian outfit is also tasked with managing production of local sports events for other channels in the PlanetSport bouquet using its mobile production facilities.
Mediapro acquired Ljubljana-based VPK Pro in May. The company has a presence across the western Balkans, with facilities in Zagreb and Belgrade.
