UPC Poland passes Connect Box milestone

Liberty Global-owned Polish cable operator UPC Poland has passed the milestone of deploying half a million advanced Connect Box DOCSIS gateways.

The Connect Box uses advanced smart WiFI technology to provide an optimal connection to the internet form anywhere in the home, and facilitates connection of multiple devices by actively managing the distribution of resources, according to Liberty Global. Devices are switched from 2.4GHz to 5GHz whenever possible.

Jarosław Pijanowski, VP of sales and customer care at UPC Poland, said that customer satisfaction for UPC’s internet services was growing steadily, with Net Promoter Score research showing that customer appreciated not only the high speeds available but the stability and consistency of WiFi coverage.

Liberty Global revealed two weeks ago that the Connect Box was now installed in more than 10 million homes across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and that it had  been rolled out to more than half of Liberty Global’s broadband customers in Europe.

The 10 million total included 1.2 million boxes rolled out by the VodafoneZiggo Joint Venture in the Netherlands and more than 900,000 Connect Boxes that had been rolled out in Latin America and the Caribbean by Liberty Latin America.
