STV’s technology chief to quit as new structure takes shape

Alistair Brown

STV’s chief technology and platforms officer Alistair Brown is to leave the company at the end of June.

According to the Scottish commercial broadcaster, Brown’s decision to leave came after he decided not to put himself forward for a new role of managing director of a newly formed digital business.

As a result of the introduction of a new divisional structure, confirmed as part of the company’s strategic review announced yesterday, the technology function will be embedded into divisional operating businesses.

Brown joined STV in 2008 to head up its emerging digital strategy and was responsible for the launch of STV Player.

Simon Pitts, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Alistair has done a terrific job at STV and leaves a positive legacy of progress across digital and technology delivered throughout his successful tenure.  He leaves the Company with our thanks and best wishes for continued success in the future.”

Brown said: “I am extremely proud to have worked at STV for the last 10 years and to have contributed to our many successes during this period.  STV is a fantastic place to work and I count myself very lucky to have worked with such a talented, innovative and committed group of people.  I wish the team and STV all the very best for the future.”
