Mares will oversee sales and operations in the Czech and Slovak territories where AMCNI CNE distributes 14 channels covering sport, films, series, kids content and infotainment.

He will be based in Prague and report to AMCNI CNE’s vice president of affiliate sales, Balázs Hajós.

Mares has 20 years experience in the media and consumer goods sectors, including five years at Discovery Communications – CEEMEA where he worked as sales, distribution and business development manager.

Prior to this he worked for major brands such as Duracell, Energizer and Philips.

“We are very excited to have someone of Marcel’s caliber bring his strong business development expertise, excellent sales skills and strategic thinking to AMCNI CNE,” said Hajós.

“Marcel’s appointment will build on our growth trajectory across the Czech Republic and Slovakia and further solidify our portfolio of diverse and compelling brands.”

The news comes after AMCNI CNE extended its long-standing partnership with pay TV operator M7 Group in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The new deal included the extension of the carriage agreement with Skylink in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for the channels Film+, AMC, Sport1, Sport2, JimJam, Minimax, TV Paprika and Spektrum.

Along with continued distribution via Skylink’s satellite platform, the channels were also added to Skylink Live TV, allowing subscribers to access programming via mobile devices.
