Netflix is introducing a new parental control PIN for individual movies and series, giving parents more specific control over what children can watch on the service.
Netflix said the move is part of its efforts to keep members better informed and more in control of what they and their families choose to watch on the service.
At the same time Netflix said it would also begin displaying more prominently the maturity level rating for a series or film once a subscriber presses play on a title.
It will also explore ways to make this information “more descriptive” and easier to understand “with just a quick glance”.
Netflix already offers PIN protection for all content at a particular maturity level, but said that PIN protection for specific series or films provide families with “an additional tool to make decisions they are comfortable with”.
The updates will be rolled out across Netflix’s global markets in the coming months.
