Robert Redeleanu is to take over from Frans-Willem de Kloet as CEO of Liberty Global-owned UPC Poland.
Redeleanu, who is currently CEO of UPC Hungary and Romania, will replace De Kloet, who is leaving the company, on April 1.
Redeleanu has served as CEO of UPC Romania since 2013, taking responsibility for the Hungarian operation in addition in 2016. Before joining Liberty Global, he was marketing director of telecom company Telemobil. He had earlier worked for Uniliver and as CEO of Scandia Foods.
Severina Pascu, CEO of Liberty Global CEE, said that she was happy to be able to appoint Redeleanu as chief executive of Liberty’s largest operator in the CEE region. She said the appointment would contribute to the further development of the operator and of Liberty Global across the region.
Liberty Global is currently attempting to secure regulatory approval for the long-delayed completion of its acquisition of Multimedia Polska, which would increase its reach from 20% to 30% of the Polish market. Regulator the UOKiK is due to rule on the case by the end of March.
