German cable operator PŸUR, formerly known as Tele Columbus, has struck a deal with Discovery to add Eurosport 1 HD to its content line-up.
The channel will be available to PŸUR subscribers via the PureTV HD and AdvanceTV HD packages.
The move means that PŸUR will now offer the HD version of Eurosport’s main channel alongside the standard definition version and Discovery free-to-air channels DMAX and TLC.
Thomas Bichlmeir, director of distribution and commercial strategy and Discovery Networks Germany, said that the broadcaster’s goal was to reach “as many viewers as Possible” with its channels, enabling it to live up to its status as ‘home of the Olympics’. The channel will offer sports including the PyeongChang Winter Olympics next year in HD quality.
