UPC Switzerland supplants Quickline as EBL partner

UPC SwitzerlandLiberty Global’s Swiss unit is to extend the reach of its services through a new partnership with the EBL cable network in the Emmental-Lucerne region.

The partnership will extend the reach of Liberty Global-owned UPC Switzerland’s TV, broadband and fixed and mobile telephony services to an additional footprint of 20,000 homes. UPC will replace Quickline as the service provider for EBL. Quickline currently supplies around 7,500 EBL homes with digital TV, internet and phone services.

EBL already uses UPC Switzerland as its partner in the Basle region and in French-speaking Switzerland.

Adrian Kössler, member of EBL’s executive board, said that the move would enable EBL to further standardise its product range and optimise customer service.

Christophe Millet, vice-president of partner networks at UPC Switzerland, said that the move would provide EBL subscribers in the Emmental-Lucerne area with internet speeds of up to 500Mbps and, in the future, access to its new MySports TV service, which has rights to Swiss ice hockey and German Bundesliga football.
